A couple of weeks ago, I discovered Golden Milk Tea and I have been obsessed ever since. This is one of my favorite drinks, it is so tasty and it has AMAZING ingredients that can help reduce inflammation and prevent the cold. When having turmeric, it is important to have healthy fats (coconut oil) and black pepper for full absorption. Turmeric is fat-soluble, so healthy fat helps our body to absorb the turmeric and the black pepper increases its bio-availability.
So here is the recipe for two servings, this takes only 5 minutes:
- 2 cup of milk, you can use any milk you like, I prefer almond milk or coconut milk*
- 1 tsp. fresh ground turmeric or 1/2 tsp. dried**
- 1/4 tsp. fresh ground ginger or 1/8th tsp. dried
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. coconut oil
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 tbsp. honey or organic coconut sugar
*If you are using full-fat milk, you can skip the coconut oil, but I recommend that you use almond milk and coconut oil because coconut oil has so many health benefits!
If you are using coconut sugar, place all ingredients in a saucepan and heat over medium until the milk is heated through and all ingredients are mixed together.
If you are using honey, don't add the honey until the milk is heated and has cooled down, so the honey doesn't lose the enzymes.
